Elise Matheson is a PhD candidate researching the Archaeobotany of Juukan Gorge in collaboration with the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people. As an archaeobotanist and ethnobotanist, her work integrates archaeological analysis with Indigenous Cultural Ecological Knowledge shared by senior Puutu Kunti Kurrama plant knowledge holders, weaving together past and present to interpret the cultural and ecological significance of plant remains recovered from Juukan.
